Start Point: Burke County Visitor Information Center, 828-433-6793. From I-40 take exit 103 (US64 East) toward Morganton. Follow "Visitor Information" signs. Go 1.5 miles to US64/70 Business. Turn right and go approx 1/2 mile to Green Street. Left on Green (Business 64). Visitor Center is in the Court House on your immediate left. Mon-Fri, 9-4; Sat, 10-1. Closed Sundays and major holidays. Call to make sure of hours.
Event Info: Walk includes segments of the historic Over Mountain Victory Trail, historic old neighborhoods with homes dating from the 1800's through the 1920's, a picturesque downtown area, a beautiful old courthouse and a shaded walkway along the Catawba River. Saucy squirrels on the walkway love peanuts. Qualifies for Over The Mountain Victory Trail (OVT) Award.
