Start Point: Magnolia Plantation Snack Shop, 800-367-3517. 3550 Ashley River Road. From US 17 (south of Charleston), take SC 61 north approximately 10 miles to Plantation entrance on right. After parking, go to Snack Shop to register.
Event Info: March - October, 8-5:30; Nov - Feb, hours vary slightly. Call ahead. Alligators are present on portions of the walk. Do not annoy or challenge. They normally avoid human contact. DO NOT FEED. Basic fee to enter Plantation: Adults, $15.00; Seniors, $14.00; Children 6-12, $9.00. Tour 50 acre garden with over 900 camellias and 250 azaleas plus hundreds of other flowering species year round. Walk through Audubon Swamp Garden and see a typical black water cypress and tupelo swamp complete with gators. See myriad of shore birds along banks of Ashley River. You may purchase extra tickets for the following: House, $7.00; nature train or boat, $6.00 each. Teens and kids priced lower for train and boat.
