Start Point:  Hampton Inn, Charleston - Historic District, 803-723-4000, 345 Meeting St..  From I-26 or US 17, take Exit 221B onto Meeting Street.  Go 6 blocks to hotel on right, across from Visitor Center.  Parking available (fee) at Visitor Center.

Event Info:  Daily, dawn to dusk.  On sidewalks, cobblestone and stone pathways.  Walk through the Historic District, waterfront park, White Point Gardens, the Market area and the college of Charleston.  Historic points of interest include the old slave market, exquisite churches, the oldest theater building in he US and many former homes of eminent colonial figures.  See Fort Sumpter across the bay and the USS Yorktown, a WWII aircraft carrier, docked across the harbor.  Sample the famous Charleston She-Crab soup at any one of many excellent eateries.  Enjoy music and the ambiance of some of America's oldest pubs.  There is so much to see, you should plan a whole day for this walk.
